A good tailor is as important as a good grocer, a good fishmonger, a good butcher, a good vintner, a good barber, a good barista, anyone who provides a product or service, and the experience and knowledge that makes a service great. A tailor is as important, but not more so. It is a job of service, and that is what makes it great, sharing knowledge and service that borders on art.
I have always felt that the true luxury in life is to have great relationships with the people that elevate daily existence from drudgery to pleasure. Even if it is only in a cup of coffee, someone who knows his barista and is known by him, who can get that perfect shot of espresso exactly as he likes it with only a nod of the head and passing a few coins, he is richer than anyone with billions in the bank but not the time to meet the man who makes his coffee.
At The Armoury we have been lucky that our vices, tame as they are, have been well provided by the good folks at Spiriteca. My love of Whisk(e)y is well known to those I count my friends, and being able to taste some of the best and most unusual whiskies with the advice of someone who has made it their life’s work to know make such a vice all the more pleasurable.
Now open as a retail entity around the corner from us in Landmark, Kevin and John of Spiriteca have gone out of their way to make my downtime even more hedonistic, with cigars, both boxed and handrolled specials by the stick, rum, cognac and an even greater array of Scotch to choose from.
So with Christmas around the corner, and my 33rd birthday a few days later, it is my solemn duty to remind those close to me that Spiriteca is open for business in Landmark. For those that don’t know me, I’m sure you have someone in your life equally deserving of good tobacco and even better Whisky.
