Phillip Car and Saint Crispin’s
The greatest pleasure we are afforded as humble servants of this industry, as there are few reasons a sane person would choose to work the hours expected in the rag trade, is not the money, or the glamour - both are in very short supply, believe me - nor is it the amazingly beautiful product we get to see every day. It is the people. For as you can become desensitized to even the most beautiful buttonhole, the thickest flannel, the most heather pocked tweed, the passion that drives the artisans to produce their work is continuously inspiring, infectious.
I am very pleased to be welcoming just such a man to Hong Kong - Phillip Car, the man behind Saint Crispin’s will be with us from the 28th of this month through to the 2nd, taking orders for made to measure, and generally discussing all things beautiful in high end men’s shoes.
Fully hand made, from the lasting to the oak pegged waist, finished by hand with perfectly turned, lasted hollow trees, The Saint Crispin’s shoe is a work of industrial art - a shoe that is solid and built to outlast it’s owner, while still being elegant, although without even a trace of effeteness.
The Pret Customised system that we have become known for involves customising a last to bring the fit in to the realm of bespoke, while keeping the proportions managed, avoiding any unforeseen aberrations of shape and form.
Starting at $15,500 for Pret Customised, Phillip will be available for appointments from the 28th. Email info@theaarmoury.com for bookings.

I don’t have many, but I can be like a woman when it comes to shoes!
Who are these people and how is this shoe $15,500+?! I love the idea of something outlasting its owner. But with this...
