There aren’t a great deal of advantages to being as follically challenged as I am, particularly if you are also as white as my genes have left me. Sunburnt heads and the glare reflected in outdoor photos, the assumption that you are many years older than you are - it’s not all cheap haircuts and saving on shampoo for us thinly topped men.
But having a real reason to wear hats is something I relish. I love hats, and as a younger man they were harder to justify, particularly as I had a full head of hair to keep my brain from cooking. But once that inhibitor is removed, a world opens up - from straw to felt to linen, trilby’s, panamas, newsboys and driving caps.
So I am very pleased to now be able to offer Lock & Co at The Armoury. One of the oldest and best known of London’s hatmakers, with a history dating back to 1676 and a coveted spot on St James. The summer straw is essential, and I am glad I now have them on hand.
Not just for us bald men, either..
